about

How can dramaturgs most effectively support writers in developing new plays?

This online workshop explores the dramaturg’s role in supporting writer-centred processes, from the initial idea phase through to first draft. The workshop will introduce dramaturgical methods for building supportive and rigorous collaborations with writers, sharing constructive script notes, navigating creative blocks and balancing critique with encouragement.

Facilitated by Lee Anderson (Literary Associate of Squint and d’n Board Member), this workshop draws on his experience of supporting writers both one-to-one and through play development programmes. It is aimed at early-career dramaturgs and script readers interested in new-play development, as well as more established dramaturgs looking to explore writer-centred work for the first time.
